The aim of the trip to Wales: participation in procedure of awarding the winners of international competition Technium Challenge 2010, leaning the working structure of Technium innovative centers, meeting with representatives of Welsh government, universities, innovative businesses – science park residents.

In 2010 Russia’s participated in Technium Challenge International competition for the first time. Technium Challenge International is an annual competition running by Technium and International Business Wales, the international division of the Welsh Assembly Government. It encourages international science and technology companies to develop business strategies for the UK market.
Centre for Innovation Business is an official representative of the Technium centers (UK) in Russia, prepared applications of four Russian innovative technologies were submitted to the Technium Challenge International competition in 2010 and organized the trip t oWales for the winner and group of Russian innovative companies. The Russian winner – Sergey Pushkar “Chastnaya Stomatologiya”, Emanzhelinsk – got the opportunity to develop his business in UK.

The programme of Learning Journey to Walsh Technium science parks for Russian delegation included:
- Introductions to Welsh businesses within relevant industry sectors and other networks of interest
- Meetings with Welsh government representative
- Meetings with Technium resident companies and a tour of some of the Technium centres
- Introductions to local University representatives to review specialist research & development expertise available and opportunities for staff recruitment
- Introductions to business experts for advice on funding, technical and general business support available
- Presentations on important UK business issues from Technium Challenge sponsors i.e. range of specialist professional firms
- Cultural/sight-seeing tour of South Wales.

Russian winner of Technium Challenge International 2009/10 Sergey Pushkar (“Chastnaya Stomatologiya”) presented his project «Implantation methods improvement of dental shape memory alloys implants» to experts of innovative activity in Wales and had been offered the overall Winners’s prize:
- One year’s free desk space within an international soft-landing unit within a Technium centre of his choice
- An International Touchdown support package
- The package includes:
- Registering a UK business address
- A range of specialist advice and support from private sector professional firms (please see below for full list of supporting companies and contacts)
- Guidance on UK legal and tax matters
- Specialist advice and support is available to all 2009/2010 International entrants from several professional organizations.

Both participants and receiving party were satisfied with the results of meetings and negotiations. At the present time the plan of further cooperation between Wales and Ural companies in the field of commercialization of technologies and sharing of experience is developing.
